So much bad seems to bombard us daily in the news -- politics, social unrest, bigotry, bombings, torture, flooding, tornados, wildfires, etc., etc. -- that after awhile we just tune-out and turn-off thinking, "What can I do?!" But, one of the BEST (and first) things you can do is P-R-A-Y. Then, love your neighbor, whether that is your actual, physical neighbor or the one across town or across the country or across the world.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10 One way to show this love is to donate to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc. For each dollar you donate, they are able to stretch it and buy 3-4 times the amount you would be able to buy on your own. They send out semi-trailers to affected areas in the contiguous United States where there are disasters effecting people (floods, fires, tornados, etc.); all this is done by volunteers. Volunteers help pack the relief boxes, help pack the semi-trailers, drive those semi-trailers and help distribute the contents of the trailers to the disaster victims. If you would like to know more about this organization go to http://disasterreliefeffort.org/ to learn more. May God bless you today.
